Mats Larsson Gothe composes new music for classic silent film
On February 2, 2017, Göteborgs Symfoniker (Gothenburg Symphony) will premiere Mats Larsson Gothe's new music composed for the classic Swedish silent film Körkarlen (The Phantom Carriage). The film was premiered in 1921 and is based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf. Created by the celebrated Swedish director Victor Sjöström, the film is considered as being one of the best Swedish films ever made.
As a dramatic advisor to the composer, the British director Matthew Richardson assisted Gothe in dramaturgical issues relating to the musical interpretation of the film during the composition process.
Karen Kamensek is conducting Gothenburg Symphony, who are accompanying the film playing live for the 106 minute duration, in 3 performances at the Concert Hall in Gothenburg -
2, 3 and 4 february 2017.

dB Productions CD with orchestral works by Mats Larsson Gothe is nominated for a Swedish "Grammis"
On February 28, 2017, the annual "Grammisgalan" is held at the Concert Hall in Stockholm. In 19 different categories artists and music makers are nominated for the best recorded productions of 2016 (the Swedish equivalent to a Grammy). Mats Larsson Gothe is nominated in the category "Årets klassiska" (Classical production of the year) for the dB Productions CD (dBCD 172) with orchestral works including his second symphony.

is nominated to the Nordic Council Music Prize 2016.
The winner will be announced in Copenhagen on November 1, 2016.

Composer Weekend Festival at
the Concert Hall in Stockholm 7-10 April 2016
Mats Larsson Gothe's music is the subject of a four-day festival in the Stockholm Concert Hall 7-10 April 2016. With five concerts many of his most important works will be performed. Amongst them a new symphony, "...de Blanche et Marie…" - Symphony No. 3, will have it's premiere performed by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Shwartz. Others participating in the festival are Cape Town Opera, Norrlands Opera Symphony Orchestra with conductor Rumon Gamba, Stenhammar Quartet and soloists like Cecilia Zilliacus and Torleif Thedéen.

New CD with orchestral works by Mats Larsson Gothe

On April 8, 2016, the record label dB Productions Sweden will release a new CD, dBCD172, with three orchestral works by Mats Larsson Gothe. Västerås Sinfonietta and Helsinborg Symphony Orchestra are performing, conducted by Fredrik Burstedt.
The three works included on the CD are "The Autumn Diary" (2013-14) and "The Apotheosis of the Dance" (2012/13) - with Västerås Sinfonietta - and Symphony No. 2 (2009) "…sunt lacrimae rerum…" - with Helsinborg Symphony Orchestra.
New piece for Anna Larsson and Orphei Drängar (Sons of Orpheus) on 16 April 2016
"Solskenet" (Sunshine), a new piece for alto solo and male choir a cappella, based on a poem by Gustaf Fröding, will be performed by Anna Larsson and the male choir Orphei Drängar, conducted by Cecilia Rydinger Alin, at Uppsala Concert & Congress in Uppsala, Sweden. The piece is commissioned by Sångsällskapet Orphei Drängar and will be a part of their annual Spring Concert. April 16, with repeat on April 17. The piece is published by Gehrmans.
Gehrmans new publisher of Mats Larsson Gothe's music
The music publisher Gehrmans Musikförlag is now publishing Mats Larsson Gothe's music, starting with his 3rd symphony - "…de Blanche et Marie…". The collaboration began in 2015 and also includes "Solskenet" for alto solo and male choir. The next piece to be published will be "The Apotheosis of the Dance".
